Project Brief and Guidance
Scenario:
You worked with a medium sized retail company as a business development manager. The company made substantial profit gains in the last year. As a results, the board of directors of the company has decided to open a number of businesses in London. Hospitality is one industries they are very keen to explore.
You have been asked to carry out detailed secondary research in the hospitality industry in UK. The board of directors expect you to advice them on a variety of issues concerning hospitality industry in UK upon the completion of the secondary research. This also expect you present your findings in the final report.
What you required to do: Select a hospitality company such as restaurant or hotel that is operating in London. This respective assignment require you to work independently in order to get a report. The report should include the following:
- Give an introduction to the report.
- Definition and an exploration of various types of business within the hospitality sector.
- Examination of how a hospitality company of your chosen such as hotel can be structured and review of its connections of various units within the company.
- Discuss the direct & indirect impact of hospitality industry on UK economy and another country of your choice.
- Analyse how the global growth, franchising and licensing developments have contributed to the economic worth of the hotel industry.
- Analyse the various operational roles in the selected company or the hotel.
- Review the skills needed for the roles you have identified for the given restaurants or the hotel with the current shortages in the market.
- Analysis of some contemporary aspects driving skills shortages and high labour turnover in the hospitality sector in UK.
- Analyse the influence of skills gaps on hospitality business in UK and recommend needful solution for addressing the skills gaps.
- Conclusion of the report.

Based on the same scenario used for the Assignment 1, Continue to explore the micro and macro factors which impact the hospitality sector & how they relate to the current issues facing hospitality industry. You also needs to analyse the current 7 potential trends and development which is influencing the hospitality sector.
What you are required to analyse: Continue with the same organisation or hotel that you have selected for the Assignment 1. this assignment 2 needed you to work independently in order to get a report. This report will include the following points:
- Introduction of the report
- Evaluation of impact of macro factors on the chosen restaurant or hotel in London by using PESTLE framework.
- Critical evaluation of impact of micro aspects on the selected restaurant or hotel using SWOT analysis.
- Analysis of aspects that impact on the demand and supply of products & services of the selected restaurant or hotel.
- Analysis of implications of current and potential trends which is affecting the hospitality industry in UK.
- Critical evaluation of the ability & responses of selected restaurants or hotel to the leading and potential trends.
